Summit County is launching a new fund that aims to combat the opioid crisis.

The Summit Health and Safety Innovation Fund is being launched with a $45 million contribution from the county's 2019 settlement agreement with several drug makers and pharmaceutical companies.

The fund will be led by the Akron Community Foundation and a 13-person board will work to use the funds to fight the opioid crisis in Summit County.
