Research was done on the parenting styles of modern moms compared to how they were raised. Nearly 4,000 mothers shared insights into their upbringing and how they evaluate their own modern parenting style.

Here are key findings from the research:

  • Moms are raising their children to value kindness (53 percent), happiness (49 percent), and empathy (31 percent) most.
  • Those same moms were raised with being well-mannered (43 percent), having a strong work ethic (40 percent) and being obedient (35 percent).
  • Most moms today believe they are warmer parents by being more "supportive" (+32 percent) and "nurturing" (+36 percent) than their parents were towards them.
  • There is a wealth of information available to moms today, which moms believe make them "more educated about parenting techniques" (61 percent) and "more mindful about parenting techniques" (71 percent).
  • Only 1 in 4 feel they have a superior parenting approach to that of their parents.
  • The majority of moms surveyed (74 percent) feel a responsibility to pass along information about their cultural backgrounds to their children.
