Little Big Town gives us a glimpse of the darker side of marriage with their video for “Sugar Coat.” The song’s about a woman pretending to have a perfect life, but really stuck in an unhappy marriage
Actress Kate Bosworth is the lead in the video and has a lot to work with thanks to lyrics like "Sometimes I hardly can stand it / I just smile with a lump in my throat / Sometimes I wish I could bear it / Didn't have to wear this sugar coat.”
The clip centers around Bosworth, as a “Betty Draper” type character, showing the image of a perfect marriage despite suspecting her husband’s cheating.
Fans are calling the video and song a powerful message. "Sugar Coat" follows Little Big Town's single "The Daughters," which was recently nominated for a Grammy. Both are on the album “nightfall” which drops January 17.
