BTS May Be Given Exemption From South Korean Military Service

K-pop superstars BTS may be given an exemption from mandatory military service in South Korea.

The country's Culture, Sports, and Tourism Minister said he's set to push legislation through parliament that'll allow pop stars to serve South Korea outside the military.

Currently, all able-bodied Korean men must enlist for roughly two years of military service before age 30.

The legislation will likely receive pushback from men already committed to serving and the country's defense ministry.

BTS' oldest member Jin is set to turn 30 in December.
