Teacher Goes Viral Showing Off Her “Active Shooter Backpack”

A first-grade teacher in California has gone viral for the “active shooter backpack” she keeps in her classroom.

In her video, Kelsey Vidal shows off her “safety cubby,” where she stores a baseball bat, a “specially designed door-barricading device, and the backpack she put together with the assistance of her dad and brother.

Inside the backpack, you’ll find tourniquets to control bleeding, scissors to cut through clothing, bulletproof metal plates, and straps to hold them over her head.

It’s great that she’s being proactive, but it sucks more than a little bit to think that something like this is actually needed in a first-grade classroom.
