If you love the smell of fresh-cut grass, this may come as a disturbing shock.

According to “Science Illustrated,” that smell comes from pheromones called “green leaf volatiles” that plant life emits when they’re damaged or attacked.

In other words, that smell is your grass screaming for help…and a warning to other plants that there’s danger.

Enjoy keeping up your lawn knowing this.
