A man in Brazil is being hailed as a hero after fighting a jaguar with his bare hands in order to save his two teenage nephews.

Erivaldo Moriman came back from a walk to find the boys being attacked by the large cat at their campsite. After shouting at the animal to get its attention, the jaguar quickly charged Moriman before tackling him, mauling his head and clawing his body.

Moriman not only survived the attack but was able to fight off the jaguar without any kind of weapon.

After a two-hour boat trip to the hospital, the boys’ uncle received 150 stitches in his head and was miraculously released the next day. Still not convinced of a jaguar’s strength?

The cats can bite through crocodile skulls and turtle shells without breaking a sweat.
