During his September visit to Disney World, 10-year-old Drew Patchin, who’s been battling a rare brain tumor since 2019, was hoping for a magical experience. His aunt Debbie Schultz made a public wish on social media that Drew and his younger brother, Tyler, would be treated like celebrities when they visited the park.
Unknown to the family, popular TikToker Kristen Sotakoun came across their wish and started spreading the news hoping to make it a reality. Sotakoun broadcasted the family’s request, urging Disney World cast members to join in. "This is the easiest way to make magic ever, right?," she said, “There is no effort required from anybody, really. And it could make such a big impact.”
The outcome was overwhelming: within minutes of their arrival, Drew was asked for autographs and selfies, and the family was recognized all over the park by staff and park-goers. They were blown away by the support. “It was over seven hours of people making a big deal over them and going, ‘Oh my gosh! You’re famous, I get to see you. I’ve been waiting for you. I’m so glad I got to see you,’” Drew’s mom Jennifer Patchin recalls. She says that the family has been through a lot with Drew’s cancer fight, but that moments like this make a huge difference.
