A bit of dancing on social media has landed 17-year-old Kaylee Timonet in trouble with her school’s principal.
After the Louisiana student’s Walker High School homecoming, a video showed Timonet “laughing and dancing” with friends while a DJ played at a friend’s party.
Three days later, principal Jason St. Pierre, after seeing the video and deciding it was “inappropriate,” decided it was appropriate to “strip her title of student body president” and “revoke his help in obtaining college scholarships” because Kaylee “wasn’t living in the Lord’s way.”
Social media outcry has led people to compare the situation to the movie “Footloose,” create t-shirts reading, “Let the girl dance,” and encourage “other students to ‘post twerking videos’ in support.”
