During a recent club hockey practice at Stafford Ice Arena in Plattsburgh, New York, first-year State University of New York (SUNY) student, Jenna Fireovid, experienced a life-threatening incident. While out on the ice, she noticed she was more winded than normal. At first, the teen thought it was her asthma acting up, but when she went to take a breather on the bench, she lost consciousness.

Suspecting a seizure, Fireovid’s teammates, including Zach Coventry, Luke Zarko, and Noah Lewis, quickly sprang into action, performing CPR when they couldn't find a pulse. While others called 911, her teammates stayed calm and focused on her until she eventually regained consciousness.

Fireovid was later diagnosed with a heart disorder that can cause arrhythmia and sudden fainting. She spent a couple of days in the hospital but was soon able to return to school. She’s now praising her teammates for their support and expressing gratitude for their life-saving actions.
