Mount Zion Baptist Church in Nashville has donated over $550,000 to support local students and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The church allocated $200,000 for students in Middle Tennessee, with a focus on Tennessee State University (TSU) and Fisk University, and provided $1,000 scholarships to 50 first-year college students from their youth department.
The charitable effort aims to address the significant underfunding issue faced by TSU and other land grant institutions, and the church plans to increase its donations in future years.
