Deputies Spread Christmas Joy With Santa On Wheels

Raised by a single mother, in Cobb County, Georgia, Sheriff Craig Owens understands the struggles of providing for a family during Christmas. To spread holiday cheer, Owens and his team launched "Santa on Wheels," a program aimed at bringing gifts to underprivileged families in Cobb County. The initiative focuses on neighborhoods with greater needs, like the Pine Haven community in Marietta.

Assistant Chief Deputy Gina Hawkins highlighted the joy and purpose the initiative brings to their profession, saying it fits well with their role in protecting and helping the community. The program, which was originally started by Carlos Garcia, the Latino liaison with the sheriff's office, and a group of friends, had a goal this year to surpass the previous year's achievement of distributing over 2-thousand gifts.

The "Santa on Wheels" program has become a cherished tradition for the Cobb County Sheriff's Office, with deputies remarking on how fulfilling it is to see the children's joy when receiving the gifts. The deputies involved hope to continue the tradition into future years, further strengthening their connection with the community they serve.
