Da Parish Trees, a family-run business in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, decided to donate their remaining Christmas trees to families who may be short on funds to celebrate Christmas. The family believes it’s important for people who want a Christmas tree to be able to have one, which is why they stayed committed to keeping their prices affordable this year even though supply chain issues forced them to source trees from outside their local area.
With Christmas quickly approaching and the family business still sitting on about 40 trees, they made the decision to not sell them to last-minute buyers at a profit, but instead lean into the spirit of giving and providing them for free to those in need. After reaching out to local groups to help identify folks facing financial hardship and posting about the free trees on social media, residents quickly took them up on the offer and all the trees were taken by Sunday morning.
The act of kindness made a significant impact in their community: 40 families who might not have had a Christmas tree now have one to celebrate the season. The family's gesture not only provided support to those affected by economic challenges but also strengthened the sense of community and shared joy during the holiday period.
