Although a petition was created to stop it, the “High School Satan Club” has been approved by Olathe School District in Kansas.
According to a school district spokesperson, the club’s application “met the criteria to establish a student-initiated club and is now recognized” as such.
That application needed to have “at least ten students” signed on with interest in “forming the group,” along with signatures from a student representative and faculty supervisor.
From there, a presentation about “what the group would bring to the high school” had to be made.
From there, the school district had to look hard at the Equal Access Act which prevents discrimination of groups based on “philosophical or religious” messaging.
To this point, no goats have been sacrificed by members of the club.
