Snowplow Driver Saves 4 Sleeping People, 3 Dogs From Burning Home

At about 3:50 a.m. on Sunday, Trumbull, Connecticut, firefighter Shaun Bogen was out snowplowing the streets when he spotted a house with a fire in the garage. He sprang into action, alerting his base and calling 911. He then woke up the residents, four adults and three dogs, and helped them to safety before the fire department arrived.

Fire Chief Greg Sanfanandre of the Long Hill Fire Department praised Bogen for his swift response. The fire had begun to spread past the garage and into the house by the time firefighters arrived. The chief’s unit was the first on the scene and observed heavy fire in the garage. Despite challenging conditions, more than two dozen responding firefighters were able to get the blaze under control within an hour.

Fortunately, thanks in large part to Bogen’s actions, no one was injured in the fire. While the cause of the fire is still being investigated, the response of Bogen and that of the fire department undoubtedly prevented a potentially tragic outcome.
