Man Saves His Dog From Attack By Wrestling Coyote

On Friday, Timothy Snipe was out walking his Chihuahua Roxie near their home in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, when the pup noticed something in the nearby woods. What Roxie could see that Snipe couldn’t was a coyote, waiting to make a meal of the tiny dog.

Instead of running away, Roxie charged the coyote, requiring her owner to quickly intervene to save her. Before the coyote could get ahold of the Chihuahua, Snipe managed to get to the wild animal, who bit the large man on his leg before he was able to get the predator by its tail and put it inside a nearby dumpster, closing the lid until help could arrive.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control collected the coyote for rabies testing, and as a precaution, Snipe got a round of rabies shots but says he’s feeling good after the incident. He says he’d do it all again if it was necessary to protect Roxie. “Once you get a pet, they’re automatically a part of the family,” Snipe says, “This is my girl.”
