Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has teamed up with USAA and the Air & Space Forces Association to surprise retired U.S. Marine Craig Mazeska with a trip to this year’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas. The veteran, who received a Purple Heart and other military honors for his service in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Iraq, will attend the game with his son and have the opportunity to meet Stroud and other NFL stars.

From 1988 to 1994, Mazeska served in the Marine Corps, where he was a combat engineer during the Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm. Following his military career, he became a teacher and school counselor. He is now retired, currently lives in Washington D.C., and is a huge Baltimore Ravens fan.

Stroud has already received recognition as the Offensive Rookie of the Year from the AP and the Pro Football Writers of America. And he’s favored to win the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year honor at an upcoming event in Las Vegas that will coincide with the Super Bowl festivities. He says he’s grateful for Mazeska’s sacrifice and that it’s an honor to be able to send the vet and his son to the Super Bowl.
