A cat named Mahina, who was separated from her owners during last summer’s wildfires in Maui, has been reunited with her family now living in Montana, thanks to the efforts of the Maui Humane Society.
After surviving 100 days in the wildfire's aftermath and being found by the society's Fire Task Force, Mahina was identified through her microchip.
The journey back to her family involved coordinating flights and dealing with weather challenges, and the costs were covered by the Maui Humane Society with support from airlines and a transporter.
Now safe with her owners, Mahina is enjoying her indoor life, playing, and watching TV, far from the dangers she once faced.
