Mark Rabbitt, head baseball coach at Whitmer High School in Toledo, Ohio, took action when he learned that cross-town school Scott High lacked proper baseball equipment for its team. Recognizing the importance of having the right tools to play, Rabbitt rallied support to donate new gear to Scott High School, including mitts, baseballs, practice pants, and bats.

The coach’s dedication to baseball spans more than two decades, as a coach and before that as a player, and he’s passionate about revitalizing interest in the sport within the city. Rabbitt believes that in the past, Toledo had a vibrant baseball scene, but over the years, the game has shifted more towards suburban areas, leaving urban schools like Scott High with fewer resources.

However, he remains hopeful that through collaborations and support from the community, Toledo’s inner-city schools can regain their prominence in baseball. By coming together and assisting those in need, Rabbitt hopes to ensure that every aspiring player has the opportunity to enjoy and excel in the game.
