An infectious disease specialist from Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, Texas, suggests an unconventional remedy for sore throats: eating pickles or drinking pickle juice.
Dr. Linda Yancey’s recommendation is based on the principle that the salt concentration in pickle brine can reduce inflammation by drawing water out of inflamed tissues, due to its higher salt content compared to the body's fluids.
However, the effectiveness and required quantity of pickles for relief vary per individual, making it more of a home remedy than a medical solution.
