A quick-thinking Australian bank teller recently prevented a vulnerable customer from being the victim of a costly online romance scam.
Westpac bank teller Marlena Karbowski was wary when the customer came in to cancel her home insurance and a discussion and a brief investigation confirmed her suspicions that the woman was being scammed.
Karbowski accompanied the woman to the police to report the scam, and she hopes that the story will raise awareness and encourage others to take steps to protect themselves and their loved ones from falling victim to scams.
