The beloved lunch lady at Central Elementary School in Lebanon, Indiana, Precilla Bates recently married her longtime boyfriend Wayne Bryant. As she was planning her big day, Bates, who’s regarded as the school's “grandma” and known affectionately as Miss Precilla, could think of no better place for her nuptials than at the school itself, surrounded by all the kids she feels a special bond with.
With the blessing of Principal McKenzie Leckrone, the ceremony took place at the school earlier this month. Students, parents, and teachers attended the wedding after school hours and a fourth-grader named Liam walked Miss Precilla down the aisle to a balloon arch created by the parent-teacher organization.
The ceremony was an emotional and joyous event, and tears were shed when the students all cheered “We do!” in response to the officiant asking who gave this woman to be married to this man. For Miss Precilla, the wedding was just perfect, held at a place that is special to her, surrounded by people she considers her family.
