Manchester, New Hampshire, 86-year-old Ned Tarmey is recovering after being attacked by his neighbor outside his home. Tarmey's nephew says that his uncle was alone with their dog, Kane, outside his home early on Sunday morning, when their neighbor, who was naked, began screaming and throwing objects at Tarmey.
During the attack, Kane, who was adopted from an animal rescue by the family last year, jumped in to protect Tarmey, holding the neighbor down until police arrived. Police had to use a stun gun on both the neighbor and Kane to subdue them, but fortunately, Kane recovered and is now in good health, and the nephew is crediting the pup with saving his uncle's life.
The neighbor faces over a dozen charges, including first-degree assault and cruelty to animals, and is scheduled to appear in court next week. The quick response by Kane and the actions of the police are believed to have ensured Tarmey's safety and helped to prevent further harm.
