Newborn Baby Rescued After Being Abandoned In Dumpster

Earlier this week, a newborn baby boy was rescued from a dumpster outside a Texas taco shop. Emergency medical services responded to the scene in southwest Houston, where they discovered the baby inside a bag, still attached to his umbilical cord.

A passerby heard the infant’s cries and called 911, leading to the prompt rescue. The baby, appearing to have just been born with wet hair and pruned skin, was wrapped in a blanket and thankfully survived the ordeal. After being examined at a hospital and found to be in good health, the child was placed in the care of Child Protective Services.

This incident is the second abandoned baby rescued in the area in the last month. A two-month-old baby was recently found in a car seat beside a dumpster by a Houston strip mall after a man experiencing a mental health crisis called the police. A representative from the Houston Fire Department stresses that they have a safe system for dropping off babies less than 60 days old at fire stations or hospitals with no questions asked, ensuring that the infant receives immediate care.
