While attending a festival in Enon Valley, Pennsylvania, earlier this month, Ohio freelance graphic designer and social media manager, Mackenzie Shaffer, lost her custom engagement ring. Realizing it was missing, she and her fiancé, Matt Garasic, searched the festival grounds extensively, but despite their efforts, they couldn't find the ring, leading Shaffer to panic and feel guilty about losing such a precious item.
After returning to the festival grounds with their families to search again two days later and coming up empty again, the bride-to-be posted about the lost ring on TikTok, hoping it might reach someone who had found it. The video unexpectedly went viral, with 23,000 views, and soon after, Shaffer received a message with information about the ring. A girl had found it and didn’t want to return it, but after seeing the TikTok post, the girl’s friend took the ring from her and contacted a former police officer, who facilitated the return while keeping the finder’s identity anonymous.
Shaffer was overjoyed to have her ring back and described it as a prayer answered. Before its return, she had planned to order a duplicate for her August 2025 wedding. Instead, she used the money to purchase ring insurance. Despite the scare, she stresses that the wedding has always been her highest priority, saying that while she loves the ring, marrying her fiancé is most important to her.
