Pokémon World Championship Finalists DQ’ed After “Rude Gesture”

American Ian Robb was on his way to glory as he’d entered the quarterfinals of the Pokemon World Championship.

His good luck continued as he defeated Chile’s Fernando Cifuentes, but that all changed when Robb was disqualified, giving Cifuentes the win.

It seems that that camera caught Robb dishing out a “rude gesture” to someone off camera, and that fell under the “unsportsmanlike conduct” part of the rule book…and Robb was booted.

As for the gesture, one commenter took issue with the decision, saying Robb was “clearly mimicking rolling dice”…so you can get the visual. Cifuentes ended up winning the tournament and took home the $50K grand prize.
