After severe rains made roads impassable and left some Baxter County, Arkansas, residents stranded in their homes, firefighters with the Flippin Fire Department went old school to make sure people in the community were taken care of.
Staff at a local hospital reported their concerns about an elderly couple that couldn’t be contacted, and when firefighters attempted to do a welfare check on the couple, they found that neither their trucks nor ATVs could get through the heavily flooded area to reach the couple’s home.
Fortunately, volunteer firefighter Kristopher Rodgers had been riding horses his whole life, so he rounded up some horses, and the firefighters saddled up to check on the couple and deliver much-needed medicine.
