Teenage boys are obsessed with a hairstyle trend, often called the “alpaca” cut, popularized by celebrities like Patrick Mahomes, Jake Paul, and Bad Bunny. The style features shaved sides, lots of curly volume on top, and looks like the tuft of hair between an alpaca’s ears. Barber Herson Bautista, says he gets requests for the cut six to seven times a week. He also explained it's technically known as a "textured fringe," and even teens with straight hair are getting perms to achieve the signature fluffy look. Bautista added,” it’s like “an old mop” that sits on top of the client’s head.”

Barber Julian Guardado adds that the haircut may also be popular because it helps teens feel more confident about their head shape, covering features like larger foreheads or awkward hair growth. The trend has been going strong for a few years, and it’s all about creating volume and texture to achieve the popular style.
