Border Patrol Seizes Over 700 Pounds Of Bologna At Mexican Border

Anything is worth smuggling.

US Customs and Border Protection officers seized over 700 pounds of bologna at the Mexican border last week.

Agents found the bologna, along with almost 300 boxes of prescription medication and over $7k in cash, from a vehicle being driven by a 43-year-old woman who is a US citizen.

Officials said the woman only declared a cooked meal, so she was off by just a bit.

The bologna was seized and destroyed; in a news release, the Border Patrol said “Mexican bologna is a prohibited product because it is made from pork and has the potential for introducing foreign animal diseases to the US pork industry.”

The drugs and cash were also seized, along with her vehicle, and the woman was fined $1,000.
