Apple Watches have a lot of features that fans love, but they’ve also been known to help save people’s lives after a fall, or by sending an ambulance in an emergency. The high-tech timepiece has done it again, this time playing a crucial role in saving the life of an elderly woman by detecting atrial fibrillation (AFib).
Tech enthusiast Nikias Molina shared the good news on social media on Tuesday, explaining that the Apple Watch Series 10 detected his grandmother’s heart condition. He shares that it alerted her to an abnormal heart rhythm and advised her to consult a doctor.
AFib can be potentially dangerous, so she took the warning seriously. “She’s now at the hospital and receiving the care she needs,” Molina tweeted. “I still can’t believe it.”
