A single mother in Olathe, Kansas, recently experienced a heartwarming act of kindness when a barista at a local coffee shop returned an envelope containing $2,500 she’d lost.
Cheryl Gates says she was about to deposit the cash to pay some bills, but she later realized that the envelope had fallen out of her pocket.
She was worried about how she’d be able to pay her rent and other bills until she was contacted by Sam, the young woman at the coffee shop who’d found the money.
Gates shared the story with local Kansas City TV station WDAF, who rewarded Sam with a $400 gift card, which Gates hopes will help her on her upcoming mission trip to Africa.
