Pay It Forward For Pets - Squeak!

Let’s talk about Pits!

We always get a lot of comments about the number of Pitties that reside in shelters. In short, Pitties are city dogs. Often times their owners don’t have access to or knowledge of low-cost, or no-cost, spay and neuter surgeries - and sometimes the owners have misinformation about the spay/neuter process, altogether, so they fear it.

This explains the influx of Pitties picked up as strays in the city that are not “fixed” and like all animals, given the opportunity, they’ll procreate at a rapid rate. Only 1 in 10 dogs, no matter the breed, get a home for a lifetime so imagine the potential fate of a Pittie - just because of the sheer numbers.

The high number of Pitties in shelters is not a negative indication of the kind of dogs they are but the volume of homeless Pitties concern all rescuers.

Based on a list of physical characteristics, Squeak is labeled a smaller Pit-mix. At one year of age, he is considered to be fully grown at 35 pounds. This handsome boy came in as a stray in the Akron area. With no known history, we can only attest to his young - and fun - behaviors. Our goal is to get him reunited with his family; however, adoption after 72 hours in the shelter is encouraged as there are always more strays coming in.

Interested in adopting? Call 234-706-5501. Pets are fully vetted, spay/neutered. Pay It Forward for Pets is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Tax-deductible donations can be sent to 751 Delaware Ave., Akron, OH 44303. Visit us at www.payitforwardforpets.org
