Charli XCX just released “House,” the first of several new tracks she’s creating for Emerald Fennell’s upcoming “Wuthering Heights” movie.
The song, along with its music video, features her collaboration with Velvet Underground legend John Cale, who she says inspired the project after watching a documentary where he described their music as “elegant and brutal.”
The moody video, directed by Mitch Ryan, adds even more emotion to the collaboration, showing the “Brat” icon in a hauntingly beautiful mansion as Cale recites poetic lyrics. In an earlier announcement, Charli mentioned their idea of the song being a poem, and after receiving Cale’s demo, she said, “well, it made me cry.”
“Wuthering Heights,” starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, hits theaters on Valentine’s Day.
