Neighbor Saves Mom & Kids From House Fire

Early Tuesday morning, Steven Angelini was asleep in his Baltimore home when an unusual popping sound jolted him awake. He checked his doorbell camera and saw flames and smoke pouring from a house across the street. Without hesitating, he ran outside, shouting to alert anyone who might be inside, and soon heard “horror screams” coming from the home.

Unable to carry a ladder because of a previous arm injury, Angelini called up to a mother at a second-floor window and told her to drop her two children down to him. Video from the doorbell camera shows him catching both kids as they jump, bringing them safely to the ground. Moments later, neighbors arrive with a ladder so the mother can climb down as well.

Fire crews arrived shortly afterward and put out the blaze, and the family was treated for minor injuries. Fire Chief Joseph Dixon publicly thanked Angelini and the neighbors for stepping in when it mattered most. Angelini later said he didn’t think twice and that helping felt like the only thing to do.
