In the days following the cancellation of “Roseanne,” after Roseanne Barr’s shocking tweets, there’s been a lot of speculation of a spin-off show that centers around Rosanne’s daughter Darlene. Well it’s being reported that ABC may in fact move forward with the spin-off minus Roseanne and plus the show’s other stars.
First things first, Roseanne has to agree to fully walk away from the project, which sources say she already has. The show will only get the okay if she agrees to not be involved financially or creatively and waive her right to fees generated from the new show. Sarah Gilbert would reprise her role as Darlene Conner and reportedly, John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf are also on board with the spin-off. Sources do note that nothing has been set in stone.
ABC hasn’t officially picked up the show for series, but thanks to the “Roseanne” reboot ratings, its speculated that they just might. The show’s original writing staff and crew would work on the spin-off as well as showrunner Bruce Helford and executive producer Tom Werner of Casey-Werner.
ABC has also not yet announced what will be taking “Roseanne’s” Tuesday night slot in the fall.
