The all clear has been given and those who were evacuated can go back home following a massive chemical plant explosion in Akron.
Emergency crews were asking people to stay away from the Emerald Performance Materials building near 240 West Emerling Avenue as they dealt with the explosion and fire that followed the blast.
Chemicals are a suspected factor in the blast, but that hasn't been confirmed yet. Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
Surrounding businesses were evacuated, and Main Street is closed between Cole and Archwood Avenues.
Another video shared with us from a young man who was walking his dog along Kenmore Blvd. He said he felt something “rattle” him and says he began to feel lightheaded after spending time near the area while capturing the footage and calling 911. @wkyc pic.twitter.com/94CSgPEw9x— Amani Abraham (@AmaniAbraham) July 18, 2018
