In the span of 24 hours the Cleveland Browns have signed the Number 1 and Number 4 overall picks from the NFL draft.
That’s because just 24 hours after signing the top pick in the draft, Baker Mayfield, to a four-year rookie deal they signed the final remaining unsigned player of their 2018 draft class, cornerback Denzel Ward.
GM John Dorsey didn't disclose financial details other than Ward's contract is a standard four-year deal with a team option for a fifth year.
And while most believe there is little chance Baker will supplant Tyrod Taylor by week 8, let alone opening day, Ward will have every opportunity to secure a starting job in training camp ahead of the regular season.
And given the Browns pass defense ranked in the bottom half of the league last season, Browns Nation better hope he does.
