Demi Lovato’s Mom Reveals How Bad The Singer’s Overdose Was

Dianna De La Garza is now an “accidental” crusader against the opioid epidemic.

De La Garza spoke, with daughter Demi Lovato’s blessing, about how bad the singer’s overdose was. During her sit down with Newsmax TV, the now author shared she started getting text messages about people praying for her family and then Lovato’s then assistant called with news that Demi had overdosed.

De La Garza shared that the singer was in critical condition for two days and no one was sure she’d survive. Because of her ordeal as a parent, the one time NFL cheerleader says something has to be done about the record overdoses. “The opioid crisis in America is at an epidemic level, and people don’t understand that until they start researching it. … After this happened, I started researching and looking into how opioids are killing our kids. … Every 15 minutes someone dies from an overdose.”

She vows to do whatever she can to help end the crisis. Meanwhile, Dianna is happy with Demi’s recovery progress. “I can honestly say today that she is doing really well. She’s happy, she’s healthy, she’s working on her sobriety, and she’s getting the help she needs. That in itself encourages me about her future and the future of our family.”
