Normally when a coach does well, they give you an extension but, given what Gregg Williams did as the Browns interim head coach, they should actually shorten his contract.
And by that, I mean take the word interim off of it, because the guy not only went 5-3 after the Browns fired Hue Jackson but he managed two more games in eight tries than Jackson did in 40.
So it’s got to be great news to hear that the 60-year-old Williams completed his interview for the full-time job yesterday.
Of course, it’s still the Browns who it’s just hard to believe they can make three smart decisions in the same year.
I mean, taking Mayfield at Number 1 overall seems to have worked out, firing Jackson was certainly the right move.
So now they just need to give the job to Williams.
Yeah, don’t get your hopes up Cleveland as GM John Dorsey has at least six other candidates like interim offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens for the job who has already interviewed, Saints assistant head coach/tight ends coach Dan Campbell and Vikings interim offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski.
Just do the right thing Cleveland, which in this case is NOTHING.
