Pay It Forward For Pets - Doris

Sweet Doris breaks our hearts. Once a Summit County Animal Control resident in early 2024, she was adopted into a home and thought her struggles were over. After all, she had been an orphan, waiting for a home for too long before she thought she found it.

Sadly, she was recently returned to Summit County Animal Control, almost one year later, because her owner suddenly lost his life. Taken in by her owner’s parents, she spent four weeks with them before being returned to the shelter.

When first adopted, Doris was a one-year-old dog. Now, she is a young two-year-old with concerns about her future. This Terrier mix breed girl is used to a house and a couch and wants to go back home—but there is no home. Weighing 40 pounds, Doris is considered medium in size and full grown. Timid in personality, we hope she will one day grow in confidence and feel secure for the remainder of her days.

This sweet girl has had her share of bad luck. Can you change it? Interested in adopting? We sure hope so! But it’s Doris‘s hope, even more.
