Google is going through budget cuts, and now in addition to laying off around 6% of its workforce, it’s also planning to cut back on the cost of supplies and services for the employees that survive the layoffs.

In an email. Google’s finance chief Ruth Porat said the company will be cutting back on fitness classes, the frequency of laptop replacements, and even tape and staplers.

In a sign of how Google sees the economy, Porat’s company-wide email reportedly referred to the year 2008 twice.
