Good Samaritan Saves Baby’s Life After Stolen Vehicle Crash

Shawn Walker was watching TV at his home in Chicago’s Garfield Park neighborhood early on Sunday evening when he heard a “big boom” and ran to see what had happened. A stolen car had t-boned a pickup truck and injured several people, including a baby.

Walker rushed to help, immediately starting CPR on the infant, who wasn’t breathing. “After a couple of minutes, I was able to get the baby to breathe again," he recalls. Authorities report that the occupants of the vehicle were a mother and her three daughters, all of whom were transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Walker, a lifelong resident of the area, was grateful that he was close by and able to help. “We’re just happy that everyone is alive right now,” he says, “And that the baby hopefully is okay."
