Demi Lovato On Leaving “They/Them” Pronouns Behind: It Was “Exhausting”

Demi Lovato has taken Pride Month to speak out about gender-neutral issues. But the singer/actor has also made a revelation that will surprise many: she- yes, she- has moved on from using “they/them” pronouns.

Lovato, who identifies as non-binary, has gone back to using “she/her” pronouns. “I constantly had to educate people and explain why I identified with those pronouns. It was absolutely exhausting,” admitted the star. “I just got tired. But for that very reason, I know that it is important to continue spreading the word.”

And as the fight rages on, Lovato has also called for more inclusion for gender-fluid and gender-non-conforming people in public spaces. “it also happens when filling out forms, such as government documents or any other where you have to specify your gender,” she revealed. “You only have two options, male and female, and I feel like none of that makes sense to me.”
